Over the next few years, the brother-sister duo worked hard to create a restaurant that honoured their family’s legacy, but more importantly, one that treats its customers like family. “When I interview people for the restaurant, I tell them that Amin and I are welcoming them to be a part of our family,” she said. “We lead by example, and we make sure that our workers know that we are one single unit. Belgrave was first born in St John’s Wood, London, near where The Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover was shot. The concept was created by the siblings Amin and Honey Ebra. Amin is the head chef and co-owner, Honey is the co-owner. The pair have drawn inspiration from their family’s love of food, as their grandfather was once the head chef to a Persian royal family.

Ahead of the Global Village reopening on Tuesday October 25, the family-friendly Dubai attraction has announced the addition of more than 100 new restaurants, cafés, kiosks and street food options.

In total, there will be more than 200 food options on site, with plenty of old favourites returning to join the new names.

There are also new venues planned for Restaurant Alley. Belgrave from chef Armin Ebra will offer modern Persian food, Shobak is a home grown Saudi Arabian restaurant famed for its hot pies, while Turkey’s Doyuyo will capitalise on Dubai’s love of fried chicken.

There was one thing that Amin and Honey Ebra were very sure of before starting Belgrave, a Persian restaurant—it would not have kebabs. As the grandchildren of the head chef of the Persian monarchy, the brother-sister duo had always been passionate about their cuisine and wanted to serve Persian food beyond kebabs.
“There is so much character and flavour to Persian cuisine. But every Iranian or Persian cuisine place was focused on kebabs,” says Amin.
